GREEN BAY, WI (WLUK) — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is asking residents to avoid all burning as fire risk around the state remains very high, and the Brown County Fire Chiefs Association placed the county under a burning ban.
Brown County’s burning ban is effective immediately due to the very high fire risk Sunday and will be in place until conditions improve.
The DNR placed every county in the state in the “very high” fire danger category on Sunday.
There are 22 total wildfires burning in Wisconsin currently, burning over 200 acres.
One fire in Juneau County is approximately 100 acres, according to the DNR, and is threatening the Necedah Wildlife Refuge Headquarters.
