KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Kaukauna couple is being honored for providing a safe and loving home for adoptive children.
Mandy and Jeremy Van Schyndel were one of five couples recognized at the Governor’s Outstanding Adoptive Parent Award ceremony in Madison. The Van Schyndel’s are the parents of three biological children, two adopted children and one foster child.
The award points to the couple’s specialized skill in working with children who have medical and other special needs.
“Last year, 748 children received a permanent, loving home through public adoption,” said the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) Secretary-designee Amundson. “While this is an amazing number, there are still children waiting for a stable home. I want to encourage families across Wisconsin to think about opening their hearts and homes so all children can have a safe and loving family to call their own.”
Other couples were from Chippewa Falls, Reedsburg, Greenbush and Glendale.
