MIAMI, FL (WTAQ-WSAU) – The Brewers won their 7th straight game with a 3-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Thursday afternoon.
Ryan Braun hit a two-run homer in the top of the 3rd to give the Brewers a 3-1 lead, and 5 scoreless innings from the mound helped lead the Crew to their 3-2 win over the Marlins. Mike Moustakas also added a sacrifice fly at the beginning of the game.
At the mound, four relievers combined to retire the final 15 batters in order, including Josh Hader in the ninth for his 31st save. Starter Gio Gonzales pitched 4 innings, giving up 7 hits for 2 runs and striking out 3 batters.
The Brewers have moved a half-game ahead of the Cubs, who were playing the Padres, for the second National League Wild Card spot. Milwaukee now heads to St. Louis for a pivotal weekend series. The Cardinals currently lead the NL Central. But the Brewers only 3 1/2 games behind St. Louis.
For Friday’s first matchup, Adrian Houser will take the mound for the Brewers. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. with pregame beginning at 6:40 on WTAQ.
