MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ) – As at least some fans will be allowed in the stands at American Family Field this summer, the people selling tickets are starting to see a rise in customers once again.
“It’s been good so far for the limited amount of seats we can get our hands on…Opening Day, definitely, is really solid. More than it’s ever been before,” said Ticket King Manager, Travis Loftus. “Definitely with a limited capacity, and then also add in the fact that a lot of fans weren’t able to go to any games last year, there’s a lot of pent-up fans that want to go to the games.”
Right now, Loftus says tickets for the Milwaukee Brewers Opening Day game are running about $180-$200 each. In the past, those prices were closer to the $100-$125 range.
While he’s unsure about how the general public onsale will impact the ticket market this year, Loftus is optimistic that opportunities will open up – and cheapen up – as capacity limits are lifted.
“It would be awesome if they would go that route, if they would open it up more as more vaccines are available. I don’t know, logistically, if teams have prepared for that scenario or whatnot to get tickets out to the public,” Loftus told WTAQ News. “That would definitely have an impact on people going to the games as well, just because there would be more tickets available. Then I think that would lower the prices of any of the bigger time games that we’d have our hands on tickets for.”
But for now, there are a limited number of seats and tickets available. The implementation of pod seating could also make it a bit more complicated to either get tickets or organize who’s all going to the game.
“You might have to spend a little more to get an extra ticket that you don’t need as well, because that’s what a lot of the places are doing. They’re doing the the pod seating but that makes a little more difficult for odd numbers of people looking to go to a game,” Loftus explained.
