TOWN OF TAYCHEEDAH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – An early morning standoff between Fond Du Lac County sheriff’s deputies and a suspect ended with the suspect’s death.
It started when deputies responded to a report of an argument between a man and a woman that involved a firearm, and had taken place a short time earlier at a private residence in the town of Taycheedah.
While interviewing the woman at her home, deputies tracked down a vehicle that left the home where the argument had taken place.
During a traffic stop near the intersection of CTH WH and CTH W, officers found the suspect hiding in the trunk of the vehicle, and upon making contact with him, he took out a firearm.
Deputies tried to negotiate with him for several minutes before the man shot himself.
Deputies immediately initiated medical treatment, and the man was taken to a regional trauma center where he later died.
No deputies were injured in this incident, and no deputies discharged their weapon.
No further details about the incident can be released at this time, but an investigation is underway.
