APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Appleton Police say one man is in custody following an investigation into a home intrusion-related incident along North Richmond Street around 11:00pm Thursday night.
Responding officers found two people with significant injuries, believed to be from an edged weapon. Officer Meghan Cash says it’s unclear if the victims even knew the suspect – who was identified as 30-year-old Cornelius Pearson of Appleton.
“We had reason to believe that early this morning, Mr Pearson was attempting to get into other homes and other vehicles, based on some of the evidence they were locating,” Cash told WTAQ News. “An incident like this is an important reminder for everyone to lock your doors, to lock your vehicles, to be vigilant about your situational awareness and know what’s going on.”
Officers reportedly searched the area after finding a blood trail leaving the home. Pearson was located and arrested around 6:20am Friday morning.
Pearson was taken into custody on a probation hold, but no formal charges had been filed as of Friday afternoon. The condition of the victims not immediately available.
