GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The gun hunting season is set to begin this weekend and at least one area food pantry is open for deer donations.
Craig Robbins is the executive director of Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay, he says they expect to send about 50-75 donated deer to the processor over the nine days of the gun deer season.
“All of the venison is ground into burger and frozen,” Robbins told WTAQ. “We’re then able to distribute that.”
A single deer can yield around 40 lbs of meat.
Dropping off deer at Paul’s Panty is a simple task.
“The deer needs to be field dressed and they need their number from registration,” Robbins said. “And that’s it. Simple as that.
Food can be dropped off at the pantry during normal business hours.
