GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Thanksgiving is on Thursday, and that means Black Friday sales are just days away for the savvy shopper.
The holidays are just about here, and everyone seems to be seeking a bargain for the perfect present. But Susan Bach from the Better Business Bureau says we might not have to wait for the best deals.
“Black Friday is changing. It’s not that small window of opportunity to get the doorbuster deals in the middle of the night. Some Black Friday deals are available even before Thanksgiving.”
Bach recommends signing up for email listings from stores you know you’ll be visiting.
“You may get some exclusive information or coupons that you can use to shop for later,” Bach tells WTAQ News, “get that flier, make a plan, map out the stores you want to visit.”
Anyone looking for the best deals should take a good look at products before joining in on the doorbusters. Some stores will sneakily inflate initial prices before offering major discounts.
“Do your research. Read product reviews on all of those extremely discounted items. It may not be what you think it is, it could be a cheaper model. You want to make sure you’re getting exactly what you think you’re getting,” Bach says, “You want to make sure you really understand what the original price is, where you could get the same deal with a competitor perhaps, and know that 75% off may not be what is says it is.”
Other tips from the BBB include reading the fine print and understanding return policies or warranty information. Be sure to pass on any information about returns or exchanges to the recipient, include a gift receipt, and double check to make sure the items can be returned after purchasing.
