APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau is using a state grant to create a rebranding initiative, aiming to showcase originality and authenticity in the area.
The $39,550 Year-1 Joint Effort Marketing Grant will be spent on a new way to promote the Fox Cities. Beth Knapinski from the Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau thinks the plan will draw even more visitors and economic growth.
“We’re a region rich and unique activites, attractions, eateries, history – and this campaign will really showcase those originals, hence the name Fox Cities Originals. And authentic destinations that people can only get and participate in, in the Fox Cities.”
2018 saw $493 million in visitor spending through tourism in the Fox Cities. Knapinski says that number has been steadily rising.
“That was up more than 4% over the year before and we’ve seen continual growth in that number over the years,” Knapinski tells WTAQ News, “With this campaign, we expect to continue to boost that visitor spending amount in the Fox Cities.”
The state Department of Tourism funded a total of 62 JEM grant projects in 2019, totaling over $1.1 million.
