DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Six members of St. Norbert College’s Board of Trustees, including the college’s top donor, have now resigned amid contract negotiations with the school’s president.
Trustee chair Mike Van Asten, Dan Dickinson, Miriam Mulva, and Kathryn Hasselblad-Pascale are the most recent trustees to resign.
Mike Haddad and Paul Schneider also resigned in recent weeks.
A person familiar with the resignations claims they are “due to a loss in trust in the [school’s] president,” Brian Bruess.
Bruess recently signed a contract extention after initially announcing his resignation last month. His resignation announcement prompted student protests, rumors, and the initial wave of resignations by trustees.
Bruess and school officials have said the resignation was due to differences in the vision for the future of the college.
Bruess’ time as President has been filled with some controversy, after a group of students and staff raised concerns over the college’s handling of sexual assault reports on campus. School leaders say an independent investigation concluded the school has solid policies for handling sexual violence, but the investigator disputed that conclusion.
Bruess has said the investigation had no weight on his original decision to step down.
