SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Things got a little messy in Shawano when students exceeded the school’s Christmas fundraising goal.
Sacred Heart Catholic School presented students with a challenge during its Christmas Collection for three area organizations.
If students could collect at least 2,000 personal care and food items by Dec. 16, the school’s priest, Father Scott Valentyn and the school’s principal, Gary Cumberland, would get covered in slime.
The students had their way on Wednesday after they exceeded the fundraising goal with 3,135 items.
Principal Cumberland tells FOX 11 it was a worthy cause.
“It’s a fun thing, kids enjoyed it, they were having a blast and it’s a motivator as well, they liked the idea that they could get me all full of green and Father Scott.”
Father Valentyn agreed and was clearly having fun with it all…calling it a lifetime goal.
“Aside from the fact that it was a great incentive for the kids to raise money, ever since I was a kid watching Double Dare Nickelodeon, it’s been a dream of mine to get slimed, so I feel like I’ve really arrived and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my parents for raising me right and getting me where I am today.”
The slime was homemade by the students. The school’s 4K class slime recipe includes oatmeal, pudding, food coloring and applesauce.
All donated items will be distributed to Safe Haven domestic shelter, SAM25 homeless shelter, and SAFPARC food pantry.
