KEWAUNEE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) — Warm Weather is souring the slopes at Kewaunee County’s Winter Park.
“We will not be opening for skiing and snowboarding at this point,” Kewaunee County’s Jennifer Gonzalez told WTAQ. “The warm weather has thrown a little hitch in our plans.”
The warm weather combined with rain in the forecast is expected to do a number on the man-made snow at the park. Gonzalez hopes crews will be able to get hills into skiing and snowboarding condition within the next week.
The tubing hill WILL be open tomorrow, however Gonzalez expects crews will have to make more snow for that hill too.
This follows the first day of snow tubing yesterday. Officials welcomed approximately 200 visitors to Winter Park. “We ask that visitors be patient, as we cannot control the weather and we are doing our very best to get up and running for the regular season,” Gonzales said in a Press Release. “We ask that those interested in coming to Winter Park, check on conditions before they make the drive.” Visitors can call the 24/7 Promotion & Recreation Hotline at (920) 388-7199.
