APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – And then there were eight.
Three people have been removed from the ballot in Appleton’s mayoral race.
During a review of signatures turned in by candidates, the City Clerk’s office found that three of the 11 candidates didn’t have enough valid signatures to be on the ballot. Those who did not have the 200 required valid signatures were Christian Pitsch, Jeremy Scholz, and Christopher Washburn.
Candidates were required to turn in a declaration of candidacy, campaign registration statement and 200 valid signatures by January 7th.
The eight candidates who have been confirmed and will be on the ballot include Eric J. Beach, Marsha Brewer, James E. Clemons, Chad Doran, Dana Johnson, Robin Kettleson, Mark Todd and Jake Woodford.
A primary election is set for February 18th, while the general election will be held on April 7th.
The winner will succeed Mayor Tim Hanna, who announced last year he would not run for re-election after a record 24 years in office.
