APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Officials say oil-soaked rags are the cause of a dryer fire at the Outagamie County Administration Building earlier this week.
Crews were called to the building in Appleton Sunday.
The fire caused about $4,500 worth of damage.
No one was hurt.
Appleton Fire says this is an example of how oil can survive the washing process and end up causing a fire. They say rags contaminated with oil should be stored in metal containers with tight-fitting lids and after washing, they should be laid flat or hung to dry and cool.
