GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A trial date was scheduled for a friend and follower of former Packers player Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila.
Ryan Desmith is charged with multiple misdemeanors, police say he brought a loaded gun to Green Bay’s Assembly of God church in December, where KGB’s kids were set to attend.
“The charges ae misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon party to a crime, misdemeanor obstructing an officer party to a crime, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct,” said Judge Beau Liegeois.
Desmith was taken into custody on January 17th after refusing to sign a signature bond, he has almost arrested again on Monday for failing to provide his mailing address to the judge.
A jury trial date was set for February 26th after the judge rejected Desmith’s motion to dismiss the charges.
“He has a right to a trial by a jury of his peers, who know him, who knows what is right and wrong,” said KGB.
KGB said the system has been working against Desmith since he was first arrested and doesn’t believe he will get a fair trial.
“The system is very corrupt, I don’t have faith in the system and they’re working in bad faith,” he said. “I know people are looking at me and my brother and thinking we deserved everything we got, but if our rights can be trampled over that means all of our rights can be trampled on.”
A second friend and follower of KGB also faces the same charges as Desmith, Jordan Salmi’s expected to be in court Tuesday.
