FOX CROSSING, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Investigators have released the names of the SWAT team members involved in a deadly officer-involved shooting in Fox Crossing.
Last week, officers were called to a home in the 800 block of Grove St. to arrest a man allegedly connected to multiple crimes in the area.
According to officers, 32-year-old Rory Behling was inside the home with a gun.
Behling was killed in the shooting. No law enforcement officer was hurt.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice says three SWAT team members from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and Fox Crossing Police Department discharged their weapons:
- SWAT Team Leader Justin Englund, 17 years in law enforcement;
- SWAT Operator Kyle Schoonover, 10 years in law enforcement; and,
- SWAT Operator Seely Moe, 21 years in law enforcement.
The SWAT team members have been placed on administrative leave, per department policies.
Both Moe and Schoonover were involved in previous fatal shootings. In 2018, Moe fatally shot a man, armed with a knife, on the Trestle Trail in Fox Crossing. The Winnebago County District Attorney ruled the shooting was justified. In 2015, Schoonover was involved in the fatal shooting of a man who drove his vehicle at officers in the town of Algoma. That shooting was also ruled justified.
The state Division of Criminal Investigation continues to investigate the Jan. 21 shooting.
