GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — It took 354 days, but some Green Bay Area Public School students are finally back in the classroom.
Some students returned Monday. Others, like most high schoolers, won’t return until next week.
“Our younger kids, pre-K through 5th grade, are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and in the secondary grades, we’re running cohort rotations,” said Superintendent Stephen Murley on WTAQ’s ‘The Morning News with Matt and Earl’. “Grades 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th, and 12th come back next Monday…once we get to next Monday, all students who want to be on campus will be on campus.”
The return coincides with the start of vaccine eligibility for teachers in Wisconsin.
“A lot of teachers are signed up to be in and out of buildings today and tomorrow to get their vaccinations,” Murley said. “We’re also looking to have a vaccination clinic that would take place next week.”
The COVID-19 pandemic led the district to cancel in-person classes on March 13th of last year. Check out the district website for listing schedules and start dates for all grades.
