GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A fundraiser was held Saturday to try to raise money to honor the K-9s of the Green Bay Police Department.
There’s an effort to put a memorial outside the headquarters that would honor 20 K-9s from the past and five that currently serve.
For a $25 donation, people received an autograph from Pyro. He is the K-9 that nearly lost his life in April of 2019 when he was stabbed multiple times while on a call.
Craig Carlson, a community police officer for Green Bay, tells FOX 11 K-9s like Pyro deserve recognition.
“I think this is just a great way to remember them and thank them for their service and for other people to come and recognize what they’ve done for our department.”
The goal is to raise up to $35,000 and have the memorial dedicated by August.
