ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) — A lawsuit has been filed by in federal court by a former police lieutenant against the village of Ashwaubenon and Village Manager Allison Swanson.
Scott Schermitzler says in the suit that his rights were violated when the village denied his request to take medical leave after he was diagnosed with PTSD. He alleges that the village conducted a “campaign of harassment, interference with rights, discrimination, and retaliation” against him and expressed doubts about the severity of his condition.
The lawsuit comes after last week’s unanimous no-confidence vote taken by members of the Ashwaubenon Public Safety Officer’s Association, the union representing public safety officers in the village, against village manager Allison Swanson. On Tuesday the village board and the managers of city departments announced their full support for Swanson.
