GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two Packers Pro Shop employees who stole from the store have been sentenced to jail.
Susan Adelbush received a 60-day sentence, while Patty Meyer received a 15-day sentence, court records show.
Adelbush, 67, and Meyer, 58, each pleaded no contest to misdemeanor theft in a business setting. Each must also perform 50 hours of community service.
According to a criminal complaint, surveillance video showed Adelbush printing duplicate receipts for items customers had purchased. The video then showed Adelbush scanning the duplicate receipt as if to return the item, then pocketing the money from the cash register. The 15-year employee of the Pro Shop told investigators she had accumulated debt from online shopping about six years ago and began stealing money to pay off what she owed. According to the complaint, Adelbush said she began by taking about $100 per month but more recently had been taking $250 per month.
Meanwhile, Meyer placed fraudulent holds on items, then processed returns even though the items were never purchased, according to prosecutors. The 22-year employee of the Pro Shop told investigators she had been stealing over a four-year period, and that sometimes she just “needed cash.” She estimated she took money about 10-12 times, estimating her total theft at between $1,000 and $2,000. However, investigators say they were able to use store records to document three thefts in a month and a half.
Meyer said she Adelbush were not working together.
