FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – Fond du Lac Police have recently seen the largest heroin and methamphetamine busts in the history of the city.
Two people are in custody as the result of a months-long investigation involving Fond du Lac Police, the Department of Justice, and the Lake Winnebago Area MEG Drug Unit. The investigation focused in on the trafficking of heroin and cocaine in the area.
On February 5th, investigators learned of a large supply of heroin coming from Detroit to the city. Surveillance was set up outside a home 200 block of Linden Street.
A raid of the home seized 1/3 pound of heroin, 1/2 pound of crack cocaine, and marijuana. The combined street value is estimated around $71,000.
Another case involved the seizure of about a half pound of meth back in October. Arrests were made in connection to that bust.
In continuation with that investigation, officers also found a large shipment of meth headed to Mississippi on February 19th. When the vehicle was found and stopped on Interstate 41, officer seized 3.25 pounds of methamphetamine and a loaded handgun was found inside. The street value of the drugs was $148,000.
One person was arrested in that case during that stop.
