SUAMICO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A student upset he wouldn’t be allowed back at school for classes allegedly made a threat against Bay Port High School, according to the charges filed.
Javon Kempen, 17, was charged Tuesday with a felony count of making a terrorist threat, as well as two misdemeanors. An initial court appearance was planned for Tuesday afternoon.
The threat was made via social media contained the words “Bay Port High School Suamico WI” with the statement “I’ll shoot this (expletive) up no hesitation” underneath.
Kempen is enrolled at Bay Port but is not allowed on the property unless authorized by staff. He had a meeting with staff Monday at school, when he asked to be able to return to classes. The request was denied, the complaint states.
“This made him upset and this is when we believe he made the post on his ‘Snap Chat’ story. We did confirm that he left the building over the school’s security cameras,” an assistant principal said, according to the complaint.
Kempen’s grandmother said he has a BB gun. Police searched his room and found BBs, but no BB gun or firearms.
School officials told police about 15 parents picked up their students due to concerns about the threat.
