GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Brown County will take time Tuesday to go over their response to the COVID-19 Coronavirus Outbreak.
While there has only been one confirmed case of COVID-19 in the state of Wisconsin, officials believe it might be just a matter of time before there’s another.
“We want people in Brown County to know that we have been working closely with our state and national partners…around COVID-19,” Brown County Public Health Director Anna Destree told WTAQ. “We want to get the message out to the public about what they can do to protect themselves.”
To help facilitate that, a website, StayHealthyBC.com, has been set up. It details the county’s response and lists accurate info about the outbreak.
“That website will be a one stop shop,” Destree said. “Where people can go to be directed to trustworthy resources and the most up-to-date guidance from the CDC and the World Health Organization.”
The press conference is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
The CDC has issued a warning saying that communities should brace for a potential outbreak, however the current health risk across the country is said to be low. Six people have been reported dead this week following an outbreak of the virus in the Seattle area.
The number of confirmed cases in the United States reached 100 on Monday.
