ALLOUEZ, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Green Bay school hopes to inspire lifelong readers.
Monday marks National Read Across America. It’s also acclaimed children’s author Dr. Seuess’ birthday.
Brown County executive, Troy Streckenbach, presented a proclamation to the Green Bay Area Public School District officially recognizing March 2 as National Read Across America Day.
He also read some of Dr. Seuss favorites to the students at Doty Elementary.

Kindergarten teacher, Anne Harswick, says her students just love it when she reads to them.
“One of the best things you can do with your child is to read to them daily. That has been proven to increase a student’s ability to read as they go through their academic career,” Harswick said.
