GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Titletown Brewing Company is consolidating locations, moving their restaurant operations from the old Chicago & Northwestern train depot to their Titletown Brew Works location across the street.
Owner and founder Brent Weycker says the operation was getting spread out too thin, and that it made more sense to bring the locations together.
“It’s an opportunity for us to consolidate our operations,” Weycker told WTAQ Monday. “And open up the depot for other development.”
Titletown is the city’s first craft brewery. It opened in 1996. Since then, Weycker says times have changed.
“There’s more competition,” Weycker said. “Less shelf space for your products…I think this is going to make us a little more competitive.”
But it’s not just the competition that’s changed. It’s the labor environment.
“It’s definitely gotten challenging with the employment levels the way they are to keep good staff on and what not,” Weycker said. “This is just a good way to get our business a little more efficiently running.”
The move does mean that restaurant operations will change. Some staff has been cut and they’re expected to offer a more limited menu.
“We actually have existing kitchens here [at the Brew Works], they’re a lot smaller,” Weycker said. “So one of the unfortunate things is that the restaurant won’t be as all-encompassing as our old restaurant. The menu will be greatly reduced.”
Employees were informed of the move officially on Monday.
A grand opening of the relocated restaurant is expected this month.
