GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The body pulled from the East River on Sunday is that of the missing 24-year-old Jeffrey Maldonado, police say.
Green Bay Police’s dive team scoured the river for hours until they found the body of a man in the area of Main Street and North Roosevelt Street on the city’s east side.
Green Bay Police Commander Kevin Warych confirmed Monday that the body was identified as Maldonado. Warych says he doesn’t believe there was any foul play involved in the case.
Police have been waiting for the ice to melt and weather conditions to improve since early last month when reports came in of a man who possibly fell through the ice that covered the river.
At the time police arrived, they found a hole in the ice with footprints leading up to the hole, but no footprints leading from the hole.
