GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – With growing concern over the coronavirus pandemic, a Green Bay homeless shelter says it will expand its services.
St. John’s Homeless Shelter says on Wednesday, it will begin operating two 24-hour shelter sites. Those are at its shelter and a downtown area church.
Shelter officials say they have already seen record numbers of guests this year, with 123 guests Sunday night.
By operating two shelters, officials say smaller groups can be created to promote social distancing.
St. John’s is also asking for donations to help meet basic, meal and transportation needs, since Green Bay Metro suspended public transit services.

In order to expand its services, the shelter says it will close its daytime centers at the Micah Center and Wellspring.
