BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – While the statewide mask mandate is in the hands of the Assembly, some local businesses say they’ll continue enforcing masking.
For some area businesses, wearing masks has become “business as usual.”
“We’ve been wearing masks since day one of coming back to work,” Indira Salon and Spa stylist Lindsey Szarzynski said.
“We do have signs outside of our store that say masks are still required,” Ginger Birch designer Grace Balza said.
“We’re pretty open and upfront about what our expectations are for guests when they come in so that they know and they can feel comfortable,” Szarzynski said.
“We have some right outside in a little bag and if people forget them we have disposable masks at the ready. No one has given us any issues with that. They just take one and they’re respectful of it,” Balza said.
“We’re in close contact, we want to be able to keep working every day and bringing clients in and we don’t want to have to close so this is what our expectation is,” Szarzynski said.
While it’s unknown whether or not the statewide mask mandate will be repealed, some area businesses say they’ll continue having people mask up, no matter the outcome.
“Everyone in this area respects that if a business decides to still require masks. I don’t foresee us having a problem with that,” Balza said.
“We plan to continue that for as long as we feel that it’s needed,” Szarzynski said. “There’s always going to be people that will push back on it but we stand firmly in keeping our guests and our staff wearing masks.”
While the city of Green Bay has it’s own mask mandate in addition to the statewide mandate, Brown County does not.
Brown County Public Health officials say they will continue to encourage mask wearing, but have no plans to issue an advisory mandate.
