GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Two men charged with criminal damage to property for allegedly damaging the De Pere Riverwalk and pier have been ordered to stand trial.
Austin Lord, 18, waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday. His arraignment is set for Feb. 22, court records show.
Zachary Dahlenburg, 20, waived a preliminary hearing last week. His arraignment is March 15, according to court records.
Both face one count of criminal damage to property exceeding $2,500. Because the value is over $2,500, it could be charged as a felony offense.
A man who said he was with the two when the damage happened called police to tell them what happened. The witness said Dahlenburg was upset after an argument on the phone with his ex-girlfriend. Dahlenburg then ripped down two signs. Lord then joined in, and the two caused additional damage, the complaint states.
Both men admitted to their actions, the complaint states.
Police say numerous lighted bollards, signs and park benches were damaged, costing the city and taxpayers more than $10,000 to repair.
