WAUPACA COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The suspect in a road rage murder pleaded no contest Wednesday to a reduced charge.
Tyler Knutson had been charged with first-degree intentional homicide for the January 25th, 2020, stabbing death of Bradley Trinwith in Iola. But instead of facing a mandatory life prison term, the plea to the reduced charge of homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon means Knutson faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
No sentencing date was set.
The incident started outside the Thirsty Perch, after the car Knutson was in was nearly hit by the car that Trinwith was in. The drivers of both vehicles describe aggressive driving on the part of the other, including following too closely, blinking between high and low beam headlights, and the lead vehicle braking numerous times. One vehicle pulled into a driveway, where Knutson and Trinwith got into a fight — and Knutson stabbed Trinwith.
