CALUMET COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The latest reminder that ice is never 100% safe comes from Calumet County.
The sheriff’s office says the front end of a vehicle went through the ice of Lake Winnebago, a little more than a mile from shore, south of Brothertown. The driver was able to crawl out the back tailgate. Some good Samaritans were credited with helping him out of the vehicle and getting him back to shore.
Local ice experts said last week the formation of ice on the lake was off to a slow start.
