APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – In light of last week’s events in Washington, D.C. and concerns about potential unrest on Inauguration Day, Outagamie County is enhancing security measures.
The county says most on-site services will be closed to the public next Wednesday, January 20th.
“While the Sheriff’s Office has not received any threats to any of our facilities, or information that there will be any sort of protest or gathering at any of our County facilities, we have, as a precaution, increased our security protocols and made arrangements to have additional staff available should they be needed,” Outagamie County Sheriff Clint Kriewaldt said in a news release.
The county says its circuit courts, clerk of courts and district attorney’s offices will be open for court activity. The county’s recycling and solid waste facility will also be open for usual business.
While administration at Appleton International Airport will be closed, the airport will be open for travelers.
Critical services in the county will continue uninterrupted as well.
