ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – The Green Bay Packers are now set to host the LA Rams in a divisional round playoff game at Lambeau Field on Saturday. And for the first time this season, that game will have more than 6,000 fans in the stands. But the impact that minor bump in attendance will have on nearby bars remains unclear.
For the crew over at Stadium View, it doesn’t change a whole lot of things, but it does provide some optimism moving forward.
“We’re always excited when they let fans in, because it just props up the district and so many things that were used to here,” said General Manager Rhonda Konschake.
While Konschake hopes the attendance at the stadium will boost the attendance at Stadium View this weekend, it all remains a bit up in the air.
“We just plan for what we do best around here, and that’s putting on a great tailgate party and things like that. But we sure hope that it’ll definitely bring more people to the area,” Konschake said. “We won’t have our outside big, huge game day activities, but were able to bring in some vendors inside and bring some of the things back that the city is so used to…It’s nice to be in here and seeing the fans that are in here rolling on with everything as normal and getting back to a little bit of normalcy, but safely.”
She says the facility is able to safely space out hundreds of Packers fans on game day, even inside, as they utilize the main bar area, two separate smaller sports bars, and a larger banquet hall – all of which are showing the game.
Ahead of a playoff game, and following a strong season, there’s a lot of hope surrounding the potential of seeing the Lombardi Trophy come home.
“The hype of everything is so incredible…The street shut down, everybody ran into the street when we won the Super Bowl [in 2011],” Konschake said. “It’s such a crazy an amazing time…Just to celebrate our city because we’re so small and having a team here and everything. But it’s so hard with COVID, because the people just don’t want to come out and don’t want to come to that environment, which is completely understandable.”
The Packers have home-field advantage until the Super Bowl.
