WASHINGTON, DC (WTAQ) — There’s violence at the US capitol building, but it didn’t start off that way at the ‘Stop the Steal’ rally earlier today in Washington, DC. Shannon Charles was among the local residents that went to the Capitol for the rally.
“I’ve [personally] seen no violence. All nice people,” Charles told WTAQ before reports of violence started to pour in. “We talked to some police officers. They were all very nice.”
Charles didn’t go to the capitol when protesters began marching, but told WTAQ that some members of the local contingent did indeed make their way towards the east side of the National Mall.
“It’s just got people over the edge,” Charles said. “So much frustration building up. People are fed up.”
Earlier in the day, President Donald Trump spoke to hundreds of thousands of supporters upset at the results of the 2020 election and alleging that widespread fraud took place.
