GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Brown County Public Health hosted a free, drive-up flu shot clinic on Saturday, outside of Lambeau Field.
“Real quick and easy… [you] just get in, get out and move on with the day,” Rick Bay of Howard said.
“With COVID we’re not going in the clinic for routine check ups and visits, so this was a perfect option,” Susan Seidl of Suamico added.
The clinic was a team effort, made possible by Brown County Public Health, the Green Bay Packers and Bellin Health.
“We all brought something different to the table so we could pull this off,” Bellin Health Clinical Operations Team Leader Jill Spejcher tells FOX 11.
The Packers offered the space and Bellin Health provided the manpower.
“I think it’s amazing that they did this, you don’t even have to get out of the car,” Seidl said.
“It’s just the right thing to do for trying to protect yourself and your family,” Bay said.
“We don’t know what the flu season will bring and we’re worried that if people get COVID and influenza together at the same time that it could be very devastating for their health,” Spejcher said.
Saturday’s clinic at Lambeau was the third drive-through flu shot clinic hosted by Brown County Public Health this flu season. But more importantly, it served as a test run for how they might distribute the COVID-19 vaccine.
“Hopefully, within the next few months we’ll be administering it to more of the general public; but the timeline is a little bit unknown at this point,” Spejcher said. “There’s a lot of logistics around that, but, we’re ready to go. We have a deep freezer and we have a planning team in place.”
“I think we’ll have a chance to do this maybe in the spring time with the coronavirus vaccine as well,” Jere Kubuske of De Pere told FOX 11.
In addition to about 370 pre-registered flu shots, the clinic had capacity for 200 add-on vaccinations.
Unlike two earlier flu shot clinics for children, Saturday’s vaccines were for both children and adults.
