WASHINGTON, DC (WSAU) — A member of Wisconsin’s Congressional delegation has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement released by his press team Sunday evening, Bryan Steil announced that he began experiencing symptoms late last week, and reported a positive test.
“After working in Washington, D.C. all of last week, I began experiencing mild symptoms this weekend and contacted my health care provider while at home in Janesville. I took a COVID-19 test today and the test results came back positive. Following CDC guidelines, I am immediately quarantining and will continue serving the people of Southeast Wisconsin from my home in Janesville,” read a statement.
Steil is the second Wisconsin Congressman in the last two weeks to be isolated because of COVID-19. On November 16th Mark Pocan, who represents the 2nd congressional district, announced that he was self-isolating after his mother tested positive for the disease. Pocan had recently helped his mother move from one nursing home to another, and spent a few hours in the car with her during that process.
Steil represents the first Congressional district which covers the southeastern part of the state from the Janesville area east to Lake Michigan and includes the southernmost portion of Milwaukee county along with all of Racine and Kenosha.
