GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The nine-day gun deer season begins this weekend.
It’s expected to be a popular one, too. Outdoor activities have proven popular amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and deer hunting hasn’t been an exception.
“The archery season, to this point, has certainly indicated more participation and more hunter success,” Pritzl told WTAQ. “Our harvest rates are trending a little ahead.”
The gun season is expected to continue those trends.
DNR is making a couple of pandemic recommendations, however.
“Limit travel…limit hunting exposure to people in your household,” said Pritzl. “Outside of that really enhances your risk factors.”
This year’s gun season is starting a little earlier than last year, which saw a relatively low harvest due to it’s late start.
The season runs between November 21st and November 29th.
