MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A lower number of total tests done led to a lower number of confirmed coronavirus cases on Monday, with the percent positive in line with the seven-day average.
The state Department of Health Services reported 4,389 new cases, or 35.7% of the 12,298 total tests reported. Twelve deaths were reported.
The overall number of test results was the fewest since Nov. 2. It is not unusual for Monday totals to be relatively low as fewer tests are generally completed on weekends.
Seven-day averages moved to 6,426 new cases, 36.4% positivity and 46 deaths.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 316,758 confirmed cases, more than 2 million negative tests and 2,649 deaths. DHS considers 240,075 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
As of Monday, there were 19 patients at the alternate care facility near Milwaukee, one more than on Sunday.
