MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — As Gov. Tony Evers prepared to give an evening address on the coronavirus pandemic Tuesday, Wisconsin again broke its record for new cases.
Evers’ 6:05 p.m. speech will come on the heels of the state Department of Health Services reporting 7,073 new cases, 35.4% of the 19,999 tests completed. There were also 66 deaths reported.
Seven-day averages as of Tuesday rose to 5,825 cases, 36% test positivity and 42 deaths.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 278,843 confirmed cases, more than 1.9 million negative tests and 2,395 deaths. DHS considers 214,469 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
As of Tuesday morning, the alternate care facility at State Fair Park in West Allis had six patients, two more than on Monday.
There’s no word as to what Evers will speak about this evening.
