APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — Over 26,000 absentee ballots printed by Outagamie County are unreadable by election machines.
The issue was caused by a printing error on the ballot, in which one of the black boxes, called the “time marks”, read by the machines has a tear in it, making the ballot unreadable.
Election officials say those ballots will be duplicated onto correct ballots, as Wisconsin law allows, under the supervision of election observers. Every ballot, they say, will be counted.
It is expected to delay the final results of the election in Outagamie County, as officials cannot begin duplicating the ballots until after polls close.
