USDA’s accepting applications for 2021 enrollment of the Dairy Margin Coverage program. You can sign up anytime from now until December 11th through your local Farm Service Agency. The goal of the DMC program is to help protect dairy farmers from slumps in milk prices through 2021. This protection kicks in once the difference between the all-milk price and the feed price average go under a set amount. The amount can vary depending on each farmer’s choices and their situation. We’ll see how many farmers sign up this time around because there was a significant drop in enrollment from 2019 to 2020.
