GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Thirty days until election day, democrats and republicans in Brown County are singing the same tune.
“Right now, it’s kind of a get out to vote effort right now in this next month here,” Brown County Democratic Party officer Terry Lee said.
“The strategy for the Republican Party of Brown County is going to be a strong get out to vote,” Chairman James Fitzgerald said.
However, the similarities end there.
Lee tells FOX 11….
“I think there’s a big difference between the two parties campaign strategy, because the big thing that we have seen is that they’re still doing a lot of door-to-door canvassing without masks, without social distancing.”
While Fizgerald says…
“The Republican Party of Brown County requires masking, and our people when they’re out will observe all of the COVID guidelines [and] distance themselves appropriately.”
Fitzgerald says the Brown County Republican Party is doing both digital outreach and in-person canvassing.
“We’ve gotten very positive reactions at the doors — the Republican Party has done an admirable job of adhering to COVID guidelines. We will leave it up to the individual whether or not they like to have us provide them with any information.”
Democrats are working from home.
“Since the spring, [the] Democratic Party has taking the virus very seriously,” Lee said. “So everything that we’ve done has been not in person, it has all been a virtual effort as we move forward.”
Both sides are confident in their game plan.
“We know that this is an effective strategy when it comes to winning elections,” Lee said.
“I expect the President will be elected four more years,” Fitzgerald said.
The CDC has labeled going door-to-door for trick or treating this Halloween as a higher risk activity.
