MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Menasha man was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left another man — and his service dog — injured.
Police say the crash happened Sunday at the intersection of Second and Appleton streets. Emergency crews found a 60-year-old Menasha man lying injured in the crosswalk next to his motorized scooter. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
Investigation showed the driver of a pickup truck failed to yield the right-of-way to the man and his dog in the crosswalk. The driver left the scene. Police say witnesses helped identify the driver and care for the victim.
A little while later, a Fox Crossing police officer found the truck. The 28-year-old driver was arrested. Police are recommending he be charged with hit and run causing injury, operating with a suspended license, operating while intoxicated, first offense, causing injury, possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
