GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel says the road to the White House runs through Wisconsin.
“That’s why the Trump campaign’s been here,” McDaniel said. “Yesterday we just made our 8th million voter contact in the state.”
President Trump was on the road Monday. Some have been critical of his campaign for holding in-person events during a pandemic.
“Many of us have to go to work, so I think as long as we are being safe and healthy we can continue to hold campaign events,” McDaniel continued.
Before the President’s speech in Oshkosh, supporters met up in Green Bay. They want to defeat Joe Biden.
“He’s not answering tough questions. How can you run for president and sit in your basement every day after day and not take tough questions and be vetted? Donald Trump takes questions every single day on the White House lawn,” McDaniel said.
After the meet-up, Republicans rode a bus to Oshkosh where the president gave a speech at Basler Flight Service. Democrats had a busy day as well.
They spoke at a breakfast event on the first day of the virtual Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee.
“What we see in the polls right now is that they don’t love the work that the president is doing, but they like what they see in Joe Biden,” Symone Sanders, a senior advisor to Joe Biden said.
“We have to deliver Wisconsin for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris,” U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin added.
And Gov. Tony Evers finished, “I’ve been saying all along that we will nominate Joe Biden as the next President of the United States right here in Wisconsin. Joe is a good honest man that we know will lead our country with passion and integrity.”
