FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A group of motorcycles traveled through the Fond du Lac area on Saturday to honor a former police officer and Marine.
The ride was for Phillip Thiessen, who died on his motorcycle on July 3rd on U.S .151 near Taycheedah.
Police say a truck driver, Daniel Navarro, admitted to intentionally crashing into Thiessen because he was white.
Navarro is charged with intentional homicide with a hate crime enhancer.
Maeghan Greeno, Thiessen’s daughter, tells FOX she wants people to remember her father for his community service.
“He was just really passionate about serving his country and his community. He volunteered in his community at the Fond du Lac Food Pantry. He was very passionate about that, and there were so many things that he was involved in. He was a wonderful man, and we are all going to miss him.”
Money raised during the event went to a new scholarship fund dedicated in Thiessen’s honor.
