MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The state of Wisconsin has surpassed 50,000 cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus since the onset of the pandemic, but the growth rate of the virus appears to be slowing down.
Coronavirus numbers in Wisconsin on Tuesday continued to be lower than recent record highs, though the state reported 13 new deaths.
The Department of Health Services reported 762 new confirmed cases and 13, 662 negative tests on Tuesday. The positive testing rate of 5.3% was lower than Monday’s 8.5%.
The number of new cases was 355 fewer than the state’s one-day record, which was set one week earlier. The rolling seven-day average of new cases was down to 863 on Tuesday, from its high of 930 on Sunday.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 50,179 confirmed cases, 837,567 negative tests and 906 deaths in Wisconsin.
As of Tuesday, DHS considered 39,513 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
The Wisconsin Hospitals Association has not updated the number of COVID-19 patients since Friday. A note on the association’s website says it is working to accommodate new data collection requirements from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
