MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says it’s monitoring the cleanup of an accidental spill in Marinette.
Officials say the spill is a mixture of river water and contaminated groundwater from the JCI/Tyco Facility, located at 1 Stanton St.
The incident was reported to the DNR on Sunday just before 9 p.m.
The company reported that the spill entered the storm sewer drains which flow back to the Menominee River.
Officials say water is being recovered from the site and placed into tanks; pumping and clean-up activities are ongoing.
Groundwater at the Stanton Street facility is contaminated with PFAS and arsenic from prior discharges.
The DNR says it is working to ensure JCI/Tyco is taking the steps necessary to contain the spill.
The DNR says it will share additional information as it becomes available.
