ONEIDA RESERVATION (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Oneida Nation held their tri-annual elections on Saturday and have announced their tentative results on Sunday.
Polls were opened on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Oneida Elementary School on the Oneida Reservation and the SEOTS office in Milwaukee.
Oneida Nation says that over 1,740 ballots were cast by voters.
Voters were given the opportunity to do drive-up voting in their vehicles, as well as voting inside the facilities.
Masks were required for all voters and hand sanitizer was available at the polling stations, according to the Oneida Nation.
Poll workers were also required to wear masks along with gloves.
There were nine positions that were elected, which included the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and five council members who will all serve three consecutive years.
Tehassi Hill was re-elected Chairman, Brandon Stevens was re-elected Vice Chairman, the newly elected Secretary is Lisa Liggins, Tina Danforth is the newly elected Treasurer.
Jenny Webster, David Jordan, Kirby Metoxen, and Daniel Guzman King were all re-elected to the Business Committee.
Newly elected Councilmember is Marie Summers.
Oneida Judiciary was also elected to serve as two Trial Court Judges, Court of Appeals Chief Judge, two Court of Appeals Judges, a Legal Resource Center Attorney and a Legal Resource Advocate.
Two Oneida Trust Enrollment Committee members, one Gaming Commissioner, three Election Board members, and three Land Commissioners.
All election results are tentative until all election recounts have been finished.
