GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Gallons of hand sanitizer, disinfectant, and personal protective equipment. Tory Ortscheid has to buy it all before students come back to the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.
“It would be upwards of tens of thousands of dollars.”
He’s the purchasing director for UWGB. “We are purchasing large quantities of PPE supply to support the return of the students and the faculty and staff.
Thousands of college students will return to campus next month, and part of making sure the campus is safe is having plenty of hand sanitizing stations.
But gallons of sanitizer can get pricey. It’s why one local company hopes to help schools and businesses cut costs.
“We go directly to the manufacturer and don’t have all those distributors touching it we offer a very low cost and speedy delivery and speedy replenishment,” said Tyler Ellison.
Ellison founded ChemDirect last October, and came to Titletown Tech in March.
He tells FOX 11 the startup sells chemicals like disinfectants and sanitizer for less by connecting buyers to sellers directly.
“When the pandemic hit everybody was out of disinfectants and alcohols to be able to combat the virus. We saw the traffic, the internet traffic, and that allowed us to go to the internet manufacturers and say “hey, we need to up production.”
So as both schools and businesses stock up on sanitizer and PPE Ellison says….
“We want to fight this pandemic both locally and globally and I think we’re in a position to do that.”
