MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two men who were wanted in Wisconsin and Michigan were arrested after a high-speed chase in Marinette County — after deputies tried three times to deflate the tires of a stolen pickup truck.
The episode started Monday night when Florence County officials put out a notice to be on alert for the stolen truck that deputies in both Florence County and Dickinson County, Michigan, had been unable to stop. Around 11 a.m. Tuesday, a Marinette County deputy saw the truck on Highway 141 in the Town of Beecher. Officers tried to stop the truck south of Wausaukee, but it sped off. Officers twice tried to deflate the vehicle’s tires, but were not successful.
The chase went into the Town of Beaver, where the truck went south in the northbound lanes, went off the road, turned around and headed back to the north. When the truck reached Middle Inlet, deputies were finally able to deflate its tires. The two men were arrested without incident and turned over to Florence County authorities.
The two men were identified as Tyler Jon Dollar, 22, of Portage; and Chandler Lee Pavlet, 26, of Iron Mountain, Michigan. Deputies say they are referring the men to prosecutors in Florence, Marinette and Dickinson counties for possible charges. No charges have been filed yet in Wisconsin.
No one was injured in the chase and no squad cars were damaged.
